My first Étape

Is this your first Étape du Tour de France? Or even your first bike race? You definitely have questions! It’s time to discover everything you need to know about the Étape du Tour de France!

Whether you registered for performance or to take on the challenge, you will receive your official time at the end of your race. You can check it online under the results tab. You will also receive a text message with your time after you cross the finish line.

Please note, to be counted among the finishers and have an official time, you must complete the race in less than 10 hours and 36 minutes. After this time limit, the broom vehicle will pass you, and you will not be able to finish the race on the closed roads.

A baggage check service will be available for you in the departure area. You can drop off your belongings there on race morning before entering your start pen if you wish. A tag is provided in your race packet, so remember to attach it to your bag before handing it over to our organizing teams.

We advise you not to put any valuables in your bag.

You will be able to collect your bag at the finish line of your race. Please note that only the Étape du Tour de France bag is accepted at the baggage check.

Your race starts here! To collect your precious pass that will allow you access to your start pen, to begin the race, and to get your official time once you cross the finish line, you will need to go to the village in the Albert 1st Garden in Nice to pick up your race bib.

On the day of your race, you must attach your plate to your handlebars in a visible and unbent manner. This plate contains your start pen number as well as a chip that will allow you to have an official time once you cross the finish line.

Celebrate your performance with your finisher medal! Once you finish your race, our volunteers will give you a beautiful medal to wear proudly around your neck.

Eating well and staying hydrated is essential during intense physical effort! On the course, liquid refreshment will be provided, as well as 4 complete refreshment stations at the finish (water, sparkling water, syrup, fruits, gingerbread, cereal bars, sausage, chips, crackers, ham cake, pound cake…) so you can regain your strength!

To ensure your race goes as smoothly as possible, you will have access to a start pen that corresponds to your target time. This way, you will start with participants of your level and run at a pace perfectly suited to your goal! Each pen has a clearly identifiable color that will be indicated on your race bib.

A road captain is a cyclist participating in the Étape du Tour de France who will be present in the different pens to motivate and encourage you throughout the course. They can be recognized by their outfits with "Road Captain" printed on the back. So don’t hesitate to ask them questions about the village and listen to their advice during the race. Like any competition, there are rules to follow.

Whether it’s about mandatory equipment, safety, or medical issues, you must familiarize yourself with these race rules in order to experience your race in the best possible conditions.
